Building a book with Book-Builder can happen at any time, and is really simple! Only basic computer skills are necessary as you don't need to learn how to use any new software applications nor do you require previous experience of graphic design or publishing. You just need Internet access and a photograph of memories. Navigating our web site is intuitive and children as well as adults can use it with ease.

Yearbook production has traditionally been a service supplied by printers as an additional 'add-on' service to their core business. This works well as they are able to fill gaps within their print schedules and can fulfill a gap in the market. What is often lacking is personal 'customer service' that helps schools succeed with ease!

Whilst Book-Builder offer the same individual printing expertise, we are solely a Yearbook production company into which all our efforts and resources are focused. We have a dedicated team, several with an educational or teaching background, who understand the dynamics of school life. We are constantly striving to make Yearbooks as simple and easy as possible for schools to produce.

Usually the person who pays for the book is a parent or relation (this is certainly the case in primary schools). In our experience, leaver's books tend to be bought by students who have saved their own money. Schools themselves often buy Yearbooks to use as marketing material, sending it out to prospective parents or on display in the foyer. Some private schools make a charge for the book in the school fees. Other purchasers include Alumni or, if the book has been made to mark a special occasion or anniversary, books have been sold at events to mark the occasion.

There is no minimum order for Perfect Bound books. For hardback Yearbooks there is a standard order of 30, if you require less than this please contact us for a quote.

Some schools have chosen to set a higher price thereby generating more profit (200 books sold at £2.50 above r.r.p. can generate £500!). Once you have decided to build your book, a Book-Builder representative will be with you every step of the way. At your request a Yearbook set-up training session will be held either on-site or online, after which you will be allocated security passwords to access your book on-line. It is possible to build your book and have it printed in a around 3 weeks. However, we recommend that it is best spread over an academic year. Appointing a team in the Autumn Term, working on the project through the Spring term and having it printed and in student's hands at the end of June/July is ideal. Some schools producing Leavers Yearbooks for Y11 start the process in the summer of Y10.

Schools are obliged to give parents the option to opt out having their child's image used in the Yearbook.

These are the pages that have been designed by our award-winning designers. The layout and design of each page has been created for you, all you have to do is put in your pictures and text. Of course, it would be rather boring if each page layout were the same. That is why we have lots of different templates and you just decide how many of each type you want and what order you would like them in.

You will have assigned passwords and only those in possession of a password will gain entry to the site. It is up to the Editorial Team how many people have a password but is suggested that outside of members of staff only the pupils on the team have access. The system is traceable. Once a page is completed, the page can be locked to prevent further changes. Pupils with the code can access the book at home or school giving great flexibility. Other visitors to our site will not be able to gain access into a particular school's Yearbook.

Kath, thanks for your questions. Yes you can do the Yearbook in any language, in fact last year we had a book half done in Welsh and the other half in English. French, Spanish and Germans have also used our system. Just register on our site and we'll get you started for free.
